Rudramadevi, director Gunasekhar’s magnum opus, is all set to release on October 9.
This is India’s first stereoscopic (stereoscopy is a technique for creating or enhancing the illusion of depth in an image by means of stereopsis for binocular vision) historical film shot in 2D and 3D.
Made on a huge budget of Rs 80 crore, Rudramadevi is a multistarrer with Anushka Shetty in the central role as the Kakatiya queen, Rana Daggubati as Chalukya Virabhadra and Allu Arjun as Gona Ganna Reddy.
Ilaiyaraja has scored the film's music.
The idea to make a film around Kakatiya queen had been with Gunasekhar for many years after having read the story in school.
“There were historians and quite a few others who researched on Rudramma. This epic drama was written based on the available material and inscriptions. I believed in the story and this
drove me on this journey.
“Normally one sees Rana as a handsome hunk and action person but there is a romantic angle to Rana in this film,” said Gunasekhar who also added that Rana and Allu Arjun extended a lot of support to this film.
“Allu Arjun was dedicated towards this project. He spoke in the Telangana dialect for which he did a lot of homework,”
Arjun said “I thank Gunasekhar for bringing this kind of a film in the Telugu industry. Anushka considers it an honour to work in such a film.
Krishnam Raju, Prakash Raj, Nithya Menen and Catherine Tresa are the other artistes. Ulka Gupta essays the young Rudramma.
The film has Thota Tharani as the art director. This virtuoso has designed the sets. Ajay Vincent has shot the film. Neeta Lulla has designed the costumes for the film.

Rudramadevi.
With a running time of two hours and 37 minutes, the film will release in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi.
