Asha SarathAsha Sarath is an accomplished dancer, who shot to fame with her role as a fiery cop in Drishyam. She plays the same character in the Tamil version of the film titled Papanasam, with Kamal Haasan in the lead.

She is also busy shooting for Varsham, in which she plays Mammootty’s wife.

In an exclusive interview with rediff.com, Asha Sarath talks about her movies.

You are doing the same role as you did in Drishyam, this time opposite the legend Kamal Haasan. How do you feel?

I feel honoured to be working with him. I am really tense as well.

What is your role in Varsham like?

My character is called Nandini and she is a typical housewife. Her world begins and ends with her husband and kid.

She often fights with her husband. Then certain unprecedented things happen in their lives.

Your character in Drishyam was bold and tough. In Varsham, your character is different. Which role was tougher?

(Smiles) I don’t know which one is tougher to play. All I can say is that each role is tough in its own way.

Did your expertise as a dancer help you as an actor?

They are different art forms. But dancing has been a certain support in my acting.

Which are your forthcoming films?

Angels, with Indrajith in the lead, is due for release. I have not committed to any other projects right now.
