#ForbesIndia30U30: Why Bhumi Pednekar deserves to be on the list

Last updated on: February 06, 2018 16:19 IST

You go, girl!

She is fearless, speaks her mind and wants to do her bit to change society's patriarchal mindset with her choice of characters.

She has rejected 23 films because the actress had nothing to do in the part offered. Now, that's courageous!

Her Bollywood debut was proof enough that she was not going to be a traditional 'heroine'.

Bhumi Pednekar, who has carved her own path in Bollywood, now finds herself in Forbes India's 30 under 30 list.

The other names include Vicky Kaushal, internet sensation Mithila Palkar and singer Jubin Nautiyal.

Why does Bhumi deserve to be on this list? Here are some reasons:

She's glamorous

And bold.

And confident.

And hot.

Her choice of films

We will not see too many actresses starring a film like Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, which talks about open defecation, or Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, which deals with erectile dysfunction.

She loves animals

She is an animal lover! 'Main aur maaaiiinnnnn #Chambal #GherGaon #tuesday #OffSet #ShootLife #Love #animallove,' she wrote, sharing this picture.

She's dedicated!

When many actresses focus on maintaining their svelte figures, Bhumi added on extra kilos for her debut film, Dum Laga Ke Haisha.

"I was a regular sized Indian girl before I started on the film. I weighed around 65-68 kilos. I had to gain weight for my character and reached 90 kilos in a year!" she told us in an interview.

She has a voice of her own

'It's better to be safe than sorry,' wrote Bhumi, sharing this picture. She's funny, witty and doesn't care about the trolls when to comes to voicing her opinions.

In one of her interviews, she said men are MCPs and the fault lies with their parents. She explained why too.

She loves her mom

She loves her mother and has immense respect for her.

'When people tell me you are just like your mom,I feel a sense of pride and fulfilment cause there is no woman like you mom.Your kindness and love towards people makes you so unique.Your compassion has taught us to be more human.Your zeal and dedication is the reason we are where we are.Your beauty, intelligence and strength has given us a superiority complex about our genes Thank you for being the best mother ever and setting such a beautiful example of what I want to be.I love you,' she wrote along with the picture.

She's comfortable in her skin
