Last updated on: July 07, 2016 10:59 IST

Mani Ratnam released the first poster of his new film Kaatru Veliyidai on social media without any fanfare on July 7.

Touted to be a romantic drama, the film will star Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari. Comedy actor RJ Balaji has been roped in for an important role.

The poster was shared by the actress, who tweeted that this was the start of a new journey that dreams are made of.

'A new journey that dreams are made of- NEED your blessings ???1st look of #KaatruVeliyidai #ManiRatnam,' she wrote.

According to sources, Karthi will play a pilot, and he's currently undergoing a crash course in flying.

The film is being bankrolled by Mani Ratnam himself under the Madras Talkies banner, and Sri Thenandal Films has bagged the theatrical rights for Tamil Nadu.

The ace filmmaker will once again team up with AR Rahman for the music, while Ravi Varman will be the man behind the camera.

Sreekar Prasad will handle the editing and Vairamuthu has been signed in to pen the lyrics.

The film will be simultaneously made in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. The first schedule is to begin from July 8 in Ooty and is expected to go on continuously for 40 days.

If all goes well, the makers are planning to release the film at the end of this year.
