February 14, 2003 19:17 IST

The Confederation of Indian Industry will take a delegation of Indian film directors, producers and financiers to participate at the American Film Market in Santa Monica, California, from February 19 to 26.

Producers, directors and other film personalities including Rajat Barjatya, Meghna Ghai, Deepak Tijori, Munnish Puri, Nirja Shah, Rahul Puri, Rupali Mehta, Mihir Parikh, Farokh Balsara, Pooja Shetty, Kandaswamy Bharatan and Rajal Pitroda are part of this delegation.

This initiative is supported by Cine Blitz, the film magazine. "Cine Blitz has supported this CII delegation to reinforce its commitment to the Indian film industry," says Vijay Mallya, chairman, UB Group, adding, "The American Film Market is one of the most respected events in the business of filmmaking. We hope a strong Indian presence will increase the scope and reach of our industry. We will continue to support Indian filmmakers in a growing international context."

Featuring over 7,000 film industry members, AFM witnesses a business of over $500 million in production and distribution deals. Biren Ghose, chairman, Media & Entertainment Committee, believes the delegation can network as well as generate business for itself.

The delegation will focus on core learnings from the international industry with special thrust on production processes, corporate procedures and legal policies.

CII has tied up with Hollywood players, financial investors, legal counsel and the international media to meet the delegates.
