A still from Saptamasree TaskarahaFilmmaker Anil Radhakrishnan Menon made a fantastic debut with North 24 Kaatham last year. With Fahadh Faasil in the lead, the film won national and state awards and was a box-office success.

Prthviraj plays the lead in Menon’s second movie, Saptamasree Taskaraha. The film about a heist by seven “gentlemen thieves” was anointed the best film among the five Onam releases.

Anil Radhakrishnan Menon talks to Vijay G about his films.

What worked for Saptamasree Taskaraha?

It’s a simple thriller, where seven inmates of a jail become friends and team up for a mission.

Your first film North 24 Kaatham was critically appreciated and was also a hit...

Yes, North 24 Kaatham was accepted by the viewers and it also won prestigious awards. I am happy about that.

Your actors say you are very cool on the sets. Are you a relaxed person?

I am actually not so relaxed during shooting. But I always make sure that I maintain my cool and composure. Otherwise, it could affect the performance of the artistes.

Your first film had Fahadh Faasil in the lead and your second film had Prithviraj. How do you compare the acting styles of the two?

Fahadh prefers to improvise while giving the final take.

Prithviraj prepares well for the camera before he is ready for the take. They have their own styles and are terrific actors.

Anil MenonHave you started thinking about your next film?

Not now. I am going to start thinking about my next project only after a while.

Meanwhile, Lijo Jose Pellissery has asked me to do a role in his latest film, Double Barrel. I am planning to accept the offer, though I don’t see myself as an actor.
