Exciting Movies Coming Up!

Theatres may not be open in many parts of India, but the baarish of new movie announcements continues.

Here's what you can look forward to.

 

Kho Gaye Hum Kahan

Starring Ananya Panday, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Adarsh Gourav, Kho Gaye Hum Kahan is Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti's latest production. It is helmed by first-time director Arjun Varain Singh.

The movie explores different aspects of friendship and is expected to go on the floors in February.

Along with Zoya and Reema, Kho Gaye Hum Kahan will be co-produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani.

 

Jee Le Zaraa

Just as his first film Dil Chahta Hai completed 20 years last month, Farhan Akhtar took to social media and announced his new film, Jee Le Zaraa.

This one is an all-girls road trip featuring Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Katrina Kaif.

Written by Farhan, Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, shooting for Jee Le Zaraa will begin next year and the movie will hit theatres in 2023.

Farhan will wear the director's hat for this one.

 

Captain India

In Hansal Mehta's Captain India, Kartik Aaryan is a pilot.

The movie, produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Harman Baweja, looks at India's biggest rescue mission from a war-torn country.

Captain India is expected to go on the floors early next year and will probably hit cinemas in 2023.

 

Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani

In this unusual love story, Gully Boy actors Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt reunite on the big screen.

Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani will see Karan Johar behind the camera after a long time.

Apart from Alia and Ranveer, the movie stars Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi in pivotal roles.

Written by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan and Sumit Roy, Rocky Aur Rinki Ki Prem Kahani is scheduled to hit theatres next year.

 

Darlings

Darlings is a quirky dark comedy revolving around a mother-daughter who navigate life and the curve balls it throws at them.

Alia Bhatt and Shefali Shah headline the cast along with Roshan Mathews and Vijay Verma.

The movie marks quite a few debuts -- Alia as producer and Jasmeet K Reen as director. It's also Malayalam actor Roshan's big Bollywood outing.

Darlings went on the floors in March and will release in theatres next year.

 

The Incarnation: Sita

After Thalaivii, Kangana Ranaut will play Sita in Alaukik Desai's The Incarnation: Sita.

Written by veteran screenwriter K V Vijayendra Prasad (Baahubali, Manikarnika, Thalaivii), Manoj Muntashir and Desai, its first look poster was unveiled on Instagram this month.

There were reports that Kareena Kapoor Khan and Deepika Padukone had been approached for the film, but the makers recently confirmed that they always wanted Kangana to play the titular character.

 

Pippa

Ishaan Khatter, who was last seen in Khaali Peeli, has signed Raja Krishna Menon's Pippa.

The war movie also features Mrunal Thakur and Priyanshu Painyuli in the lead.

Based on tank commander Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta's heroics in the Battle of Garibpur during the 1971 War, Pippa -- the Soviet-built PT-76 tank was nicknamed Pippa -- is produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur.

Ishaan plays Balram Singh Mehta; Mrunal plays his sister and Priyanshu his older brother.

Pippa went on the floors last week and is slated to release in theatres next year.

 

Bhediya

Backed by Dinesh Vijan and directed by Amar Kaushik, Bhediya is a horror comedy starring Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon.

The first Bollywood movie entirely shot in Arunachal Pradesh is likely to arrive in cinemas next year.

While it is being said that Bhediya is about werewolves, writer Niren Bhat said in an interview that the movie belongs to a completely different genre.

Since they are not saying any more, we'll just have to wait and watch.

NAMRATA THAKKER
