The mortal remains of wrestler-turned-actor Dara Singh [ Images ], who died in Mumbai [ Images ] last week, were immersed in Satluj river at Kiratpur Sahib in Punjab [ Images ] according to Sikh rituals on Monday.
The ashes were brought from Mumbai to Chandigarh by air and then taken to Kiratpur Sahib by road.
A large number of fans of Dara Singh were present to pay tribute.
Sons Vindoo Dara Singh, Parduman Singh Randhawa and Amrik Singh Randhawa immersed the ashes. Shiromani Akali Dal [ Images ] leader and area MLA, Daljit Singh Cheema, was also present.
Dara Singh, who was born in a village in Amritsar [ Images ] district, breathed his last on July 12 at the age of 83.
