May 21, 2007 12:31 IST

In a bid to encash on the booming Bhojpuri movie market, a Bhojpuri version of Charlie Chaplin is being made by Mumbai-based duo, Parveen Singh Sisodia and Kunal Singh.

Sisodia, a Patna-born Bhojpuri film actor, said that the idea of making a desi Charlie Chaplin struck them a few months ago when he played this character in a film called Hum Hain Ganwar.

"It will be a desi Charlie Chaplin, not the Hollywood one," Sisodia asserted.

According to him, the costumes and sets will give the film a North Indian rural touch. "The film shoot is likely to start in October-November, in Bihar," he continued. The shooting will also take place in Patna, Muzaffarpur and other districts.

The film's name has not been decided yet. It will not have a big budget, and is likely to release next summer.

The Bhojpuri film industry caters to a large Bhojpuri-speaking audience, who live in the states of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
