Inspired by one of India's biggest and most successful rescue missions from a war-torn country, Producers Ronnie Screwvala and Harman Baweja are all set to create Captain India.

Directed by National Award winner Hansal Mehta, the action drama stars Kartik Aaryan as a pilot who shows exemplary bravery.

"Captain India is inspiring and thrilling in equal measure. It gives me great pride and honour to be a part of such a historic chapter of our country," says Kartik.

"Captain India, which is inspired by true events, will revisit a moment in time where a man goes beyond his own pain and suffering to save thousands," Hansal adds.

"Captain India is not just a story of one of the biggest humanitarian operations ever; it's also about the indomitable human spirit, one that rises above failure despite the odds," points out Ronnie.

"This move as a producer was a long time coming," says writer-producer Harman Baweja, who did not reveal if he will also act in the film.
