First Look: The Indian preparing to Bang

November 08, 2007 10:04 IST

Kunal Nayyar, star of The Big Bang TheoryDon't be misled by the name, The Big Bang Theory isn't as scientific as you might think.

The sitcom is about two young and brilliant nerds, one of whom falls for a bimbette. This leads to much confusion.

Among the fresh young cast of the warmly received show is Kunal Nayyar, who earlier guest-starred on NCIS.

Born in London and bred in New Delhi, Nayyar currently lives in Los Angeles. He has always been proficient in entertainment, and his Cotton Candy play continues to run in Delhi, even as he finishes writing his first feature film.

Nayyar's character, Rajesh 'Raj' Koothrappali is a brilliant Stephen Hawking fan with a heavy Indian accent. He's really shy and has considered marrying an Indian woman -- because she can sing their future kids desi lullabies.

The Big Bang Theory is telecast on CBS in the US and Zee Cafe in India. The timings on Zee Cafe are Thursdays at 2100, Fridays at 1100 and Sundays at 2200.
