Diamonds and rice pearls for Amrita Arora

March 03, 2009 10:42 IST

After Ayesha Takia, it is Amrita Arora's turn to tie the knot. The actress, who's getting married to Shakeel Ladakh, had her sangeet yesterday.

Best friend and bridesmaid Kareena Kapoor even danced at her sangeet.

We spoke to fashion designer Ashley Rebello to describe Amrita's wedding gown.

"I have designed an off-white vintage wedding gown for Amrita. It gives a very old world charm. It's very beautiful and delicate. The fabric is Umelio Ungaro lace and satin,  with a high neck. It's a body-fitting gown, embellished with diamonds and rice pearls. It leaves a trail behind," he says.

Ashley has also designed the gowns for the four bridesmaids, including Kareena, Malaika Arora Khan, Salman Khan's sister Alvira and close friend Mallika.

"The bridesmaids are wearing varied shades of peach," he says. "They have a vintage look as well, with a big flair and a long trail. The gowns made of georgette, and embellished with copper diamonds."
