It seems Shankar asked for dates spread over two years for Robot. But Ash, who reportedly wants to start a family soon, could not spare dates over such a long time.
Deepika Padukone had been considered for the role but her name was dropped, and Ash had stepped in in her place.

Robot tells a story about scientists creating a robot, which goes on to become a nuisance to the society. Initially, the film was to star Shah Rukh Khan but the deal fell through.
