Anurag Kashyap to try love story next

January 24, 2008 12:42 IST

If you have been waiting to watch Anurag Kashyap's take on Devdas -- called Dev D -- you will have to wait longer. The film has been put on the backburner, as the director is keen on making a love story with Abhay Deol, instead. It will be produced by UTV.

The director, who has made films like the brilliant Black Friday, the far-from-brilliant No Smoking, and the tacky animation film, Return Of Hanuman, has not tried a love story yet. In fact, not so long ago,

Anurag was against love stories.

Why the sudden change of heart? "If I make a love story, it will be my kind of love story. It may be a thriller," he tells us.

Anurag will also direct a period thriller, Bombay Velvet, for Studio 18. His No Smoking actor John Abraham and Kay Kay Menon (who worked with him on Black Friday, and the yet-unreleased Paanch) have confirmed that they will star in this film.

Anurag is also busy penning the dialogues for Karan Johar's next and Saif Ali Khan's home production.
