After mesmerising people with his soulful rendition of Meera and Kabir bhajans, singer Anup Jalota is now gearing up to release Nishan, a racy mystery thriller movie with a murder angle thrown in.
Jalota, who has produced the film and composed the music for it, describes his foray into filmmaking as an extension of his creative pursuits. "I have been into playback singing for films for quite some time. I have always dreamt of making my own films and I now see my dreams coming true," says Jalota who has produced two films earlier.
"I had been looking out for a good script. Once I found it, I decided to go ahead. It is a mystery thriller with a lot of suspense and twists," the singer-turned-producer said about the film which is due for release by May. Nishan features Kapil and Pratiksha Patel in key roles.
Why a mystery thriller and not a musical? "I simply followed my instincts. I did not feel the need for making a musical right now. I wanted it to be a mystery thriller. I do not think the film will be lost among the recent crop of mystery films," he says.
