October 16, 2003 17:04 IST

Amitabh BachchanJaisalmer's annual desert festival will now feature in a film starring Amitabh Bachchan.

Director Anil Sharma has selected Jaisalmer as the locale for his film, Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyon. The film also stars Sunny Deol.

"The district administration and tourism department will extend all help, including arranging about 200 performers for the film unit," said tourism officer Upendra Singh Shekhawat.

The film would help popularise both Jaisalmer and its festival, which would attract more tourists, Shekhawat added.

During the weeklong festival, which begins on November 20, a shobha yatra would be held at Jaisalmer's famed yellow fort, described by late director Satyajit Ray as sonar killa.

Various competitions held during the festival -- including Mister Desert, Miss Desert, tying of turbans and a competition judging the longest moustache -- would be showcased in the film, Shekhawat said.
