AMAZING Web Shows COMING UP!

2020 was an important year for OTT platforms, as the lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic meant that subscriptions went up dramatically.

Moreover, a lot of exciting content was on display.

The new year takes the action forward, with several big projects lined up in the first couple of months itself.

Joginder Tuteja takes a look at some interesting OTT shows coming up.

 

Tandav, Amazon Prime Video
Release date: January 15

Saif Ali Khan is not new to the OTT world, thanks to his blockbuster show, Sacred Games.

He returns as the lead in Tandav, a political thriller by Tiger Zinda Hai Director Ali Abbas Zafar, who makes his digital debut.

It's an interesting cast with Dimple Kapadia, Kumud Mishra, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Sunil Grover, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Sarah Jane Dias, Kritika Kamra and Gauahar Khan.

 

Jeet Ki Zidd, ZEE5
Release date: January 22

2020 belonged to Amit Sadh, as he had five releases on the OTT platform.

He starts 2021 with the true story of a soldier, who rose up even after being paralyzed waist down.

Veteran film-maker Boney Kapoor makes his debut in the web world with Jeet Ki Zidd and it promises to be an emotional action drama.

 

The Family ManSeason 2, Amazon Prime Video
Release date: February 12

When The Family Man released in 2019, it became hugely popular because of the way Manoj Bajpayee approached his part.

Directors Raj and DK brought their innovation narrative style into play here.

In the second season, the counter-terrorism mission is on again and this time South star Samantha Akkineni joins in.

 

Call My Agent

An insider account of how Bollywood functions is always fun to watch.

With Call My Agent, Applause Entertainment and Shaad Ali are set to give us a crazy slice-of-life comedy which has four celebrity agents narrating what happens in the lives and times of celebrities.

Rajat Kapur, Soni Razdan, Aahana Kumra and Ayush Mehta will be joined by a real life celebrity in every episode.

 

State of Siege: Akshardham, ZEE5

The success of last year's State of Siege: 26/11 -- about the Mumbai attacks -- has spun off State of Siege: Akshardham, based on the attack on the Akshardham temple in 2002.

If reports are to be believed, Akshaye Khanna will front-line this thriller.

 

Mumbai Diaries 26/11, Amazon Prime Video

Meanwhile, Nikkhil Advani has made his version of the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai Diaries 26/11.

A teaser clip of the series has already made an impression and the D-Day director may just have another winner on his hand.

The series stars Konkona Sensharma, Mohit Raina, Tina Desai and Shreya Dhanwanthary, amongst others.

 

The Test Case Season 2, ALT Balaji and ZEE5

It has been a while since Nimrat Kaur impressed us with her commando act in Ekta Kapoor's The Test Case.

Now, ALT Balaji and ZEE5 are ready with the second season of their flagship show, which features Harleen Sethi in the lead.

 

Inside Edge 3 Season 3, Amazon Prime Video

The third season of Inside Edge iss et to stream.

The makers (Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani) had shot the second and third seasons back to back, and that ensured there were no delays even during the pandemic.

Vivek Oberoi, Richa Chaddha, Tanuj Virwani and Angad Bedi return in this cricket drama.

 

Bombay Begums, Netflix

An all-women drama, Bombay Begums was announced sometime ago by Netflix.

Director Alankrita Shrivastava, who gave us the Netflix film Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare last year, helms the show.

Pooja Bhatt returns as an actress along with Amruta Subhash, Shahana Goswami, Plabita Borthakur and Aadhya Anand.
