Akshay Kumar goes for Gold

Get ready for Akshay Kumar's next biopic!

Off late, Akshay Kumar seems to want to play real-life characters.

After Airlift and Rustom, Akshay has taken up films like Pad Man (based on entrepreneur Arunachalam Muruganantham, who made low-cost sanitary napkins) and Mogul (a biopic on music mogul Gulshan Kumar).

He is also making a film called Gold, based on hockey player Balbir Singh, who led India to victory in three consecutive Olympics in 1948, 1952 and 1956.

The actor has started shooting for the film, and shared his look in it.

'Set out on a brand new journey, aiming for nothing less than #GOLD! Day 1 of Gold, need your love and best wishes as always,' he tweeted.

Directed by Talaash director Reema Kagti, Gold will also star Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh and mark the debut of television actress Mouni Roy in Bollywood. It is beiing produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment.

Akshay had tweeted about the film last year revealing some details: 'Set in 1948, the historic story of India's first Olympic medal as a free nation, #GOLD coming to you on 15th August, 2018!'
