Pakistani sufi singer Abida Parveen recently survived a motorway accident.

She was travelling from Lahore to Islamabad with University of Health Sciences' former vice-chancellor Professor Dr Husain Mubashir and PTV World anchor Taimur Shamil.

When they reached Chakri motorway, water level rose to several feet as it was raining heavily, forcing them to jump out of the vehicle before it would have completely washed away.

According to the PTV anchor, many other vehicles were stuck in the water and people were crying for help, the Dawn reported.

He called the motorway police on the emergency number and informed them about the tragic situation.

Jhelum police arrived to rescue the group after they remained stranded for over three hours on an edge of the road.
