Abhishek's Dum Maaro Dum slated for 2011

May 26, 2010 14:18 IST

Abhishek Bachchan starrer Dum Maaro Dum, an edgy dramatic thriller set in Goa, is all set to hit theatres worldwide on February 4, next year.

The movie marks the return of director Rohan Sippy and Junior Bachchan after a gap of five-years. They last worked together on 2005 hit Bluffmaster, where Abhishek played a conman.

However, Dum Maaro Dum is a role-reversal for the 34-year-old star, who plays the role of a fearless cop this time. Co-produced by Fox Star Studio and Ramesh Sippy Entertainment, the film also stars Bipasha Basu, Rana Daggubati, Pratik Babbar and Aditya Panscholi in major roles.

"The film is shaping up very well and the audiences should get ready to enjoy a gripping, moving film with great visual appeal, coming their way on 4th February," said Ramesh Sippy.

Dum Maaro Dum will be Fox Star Studio's third January-February release after Slumdog Millionaire in 2009 and Shah Rukh Khan starrer My Name is Khan in 2010.

"We are hugely excited about Dum Maaro Dum as it has a great script, it's vibrant and contemporary and we expect the film to appeal to a wide audience. The February timing is perfect as it is strategically timed just before the cricket World Cup. The window of late January and early February works for us also as we are familiar with the release environment during that period," said Vijay Singh, CEO, Fox Star Studios.

The first schedule of the movie was shot in Goa recently and the second schedule in Mumbai is to begin in June 2010. Written by Shridhar Raghavan, the movie will have new sounds keeping the title in mind. The music is by Pritam with lyrics by Jaideep Sahni of Chak De fame.
