Though Malayalam directors and actors promise change at any given opportunity, we return disappointed from the theatre as we see the same old things again and again. The same is the case with Suresh Gopi's [Images] latest outing Heylessa (a booster shout by hand cart pullers).

Directed by Thaha, this film boasts of having Suresh Gopi in a comic role. While the actor has stuck to his promise of not playing a cop, here he appears to be a dimwit rather than a comedian. He plays a fifth grade dropout Unnikrishnan, who gets a job of assisting a wheelchair-bound old man Ganapathy Iyer (Lalu Alex). The story is full of cliched impersonations without any cohesive glue that binds the viewer with the proceedings.

The technical treatment of the film takes us back to an era when finesse was not given its due, and when every other film was just a garland of guffaws tied together in a thin twine called a story.

Talking about acting; Suresh Gopi cuts a sorry figure. It is true that police roles stifled the actor in him but accepting something lousy like this just to be different is a huge price to pay.

There is hardly anything else to look forward to in this endeavour. Even the supporting cast does not give anything to cheer about. Muktha as the leading lady doesn't impress.

Heylessa is one more addition to the heap of films that have to be avoided.
