'Kurukshetra is not a continuation of Kirtichakra'

What is Kurukshetra all about?

Kurukshetra narrates the reasons for the Kargil war and of course, its strategic importance. As Kargil is almost a barren region without trees, why should two nations wage a war for that land? In fact, the war was fought without actually seeing the enemy most of the time.

Let me make it clear that Kurukshetra is not a continuation of Kirtichakra. What we have done is take Major Mahadevan's character from Kirtichakra and placed him in this film. From a Major, he has now become a Colonel.

Why do you think the audiences accepted Major Mahadevan?

He is no macho hero who cannot do any wrong in life. He is a normal human being who has difference of opinions with officers. He is not infallible on the war front.

We have in fact done nothing cinematic in Kirtichakra. He is a soldier any one can relate to, and that should have worked in favour of the character's popularity.
