'It was a dream come true to work with Radhamohan'

When did Abhiyum Naanum happen?

I came back with the award and within a week, I got the role in Abhiyum Naanum. But before that, I have to tell you another story. In June 2008, I saw Radhamohan's Mozhi. I just thought it would be a dream come true for me if I could get to work with this director.

Two months after that, I came to know that Prakash Raj's Duet Films was in Mumbai scouting for an actor to act opposite Trisha. They were in Mumbai after auditioning many actors in Chennai, Delhi and Bangalore. I thought it was a great opportunity for me.

When I went for the audition, I saw that almost half of the film and TV industry was there. I met Radhamohan and he explained the character to me. It was a great character. I don't think any actor will get such a launch! It is such a different and unique character.

I wanted to convince him that I could play it. So, what I did was, I dressed like the character and went to see him again. He liked the fact that an actor did his homework. I think that helped me clinch the role.

Did your knowledge of Tamil help you get the role?

It has nothing to do with that. He saw the character in me and nothing else. After the audition, I went to Paris for a shoot. After five days, when I was still in Paris, I got a call confirming that I was selected. I felt fantastic!
