In the beginning, it was only academics for me but I used to watch a lot of films then. It all changed after the Gladrags competition.

How did that happen?

I had done a lot of modelling as an amateur when in college. Later when I was working with Patni Computers, some of my friends wanted me to participate in the Gladrags contest. It was only because of my friends that I applied.

I took a month's break from my job, and prepared for the contest and won it. I must say my company was very encouraging. So also my parents, though they were a bit shocked initially. Here I was a topper in school and college who got admission for a Masters in the US suddenly participating in a modelling contest!

Were you expecting to win?

When I first entered, I had no clue about what I was getting into but after the first round, I became confident because I could communicate better than many others.
