The Maharashtra government has upheld the ban on the Hindi film, Deshdrohi. The ban was imposed on the film two days before its release last week, as the Mumbai police found the content objectionable.

Bhojpuri actor-director Kamaal R Khan explores the atrocities suffered by North Indian man, who settles down in Mumbai. He becomes the subject of ridicule in his social circle, and finally resorts to arms to make his stand that we are all Indians first.

The film, also starring Gracy Singh [Images], was released all over India but banned in Maharashtra, prompting Khan to approach the Mumbai High Court. Even though he agreed to delete some objectionable scenes from the film, the government upheld the ban fearing violence from Raj Thackeray's [Images] Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, who have started a campaign against North Indians in Mumbai.
