Most television actors want to shift to the big screen someday. And the time has come for Sonal Sehgal, who will be seen in Nagesh Kukunoor's Aashayein.

The actress was earlier seen in shows like Saara Akaash and Hotel Kingston [Images].

Nagesh had been on the lookout for an actress for his John Abraham-starrer, and it looks like he has finally settled on Sonal. But it was no cakewalk for Sonal.

"I had to enact two scenes before Nagesh got satisfied and told me that he will get in touch," Sonal says, about the audition.

When the much-awaited phone call did not come for a couple of days, Sonal thought she had lost out. "Just when I was losing hope, Nagesh called and asked me to meet him for the script narration. I was so excited! I could not believe what was happening," Sonal laughed.

"I met Nagesh, signed the contract and came home," she continued. "Everything was like a dream. In fact, it came as such a pleasant surprise that the next day, I called up Nagesh and asked him if I was really selected for the role."

So how was it working with John Abraham [Images]?

"Oh, it was a great experience," Sonal gushes. "He is very professional and down-to-earth. Off camera, he is just like any normal guy."

Aashayein sees John play a gambler. But Sonal, who plays his girlfriend, is not comfortable with that.

"One unique thing about this film is that I have not used make-up," she says. "I have glowing skin in my genes. I even turned vegeterian to avoid oily foods."

Sonal was earlier seen in the 2005 flop, U Bomsi and Me. Let's hope Aashayein brings her more luck.
