She received many awards, including the Padma Sri in 1969, Abhinandana-Kanchana Maala award in 1980, the Karnataka Government's Rajyothsava award in 1989, the Padma Bhushan in 1992, the Filmfare award for All-round Achievement, the Tamil Nadu Government's MGR award and many more.
Saroja Devi currently lives in Karnataka, surrounded by the relics of her accomplishments.
'I have four homes in Chennai: the residences of MGR, Sivaji Ganesan, Gemini Ganesan, and MR Radha,' she had once said. 'But now, they have all gone -- and I remain alone, with only their memories in my heart, and tears in my eyes.'
