Madonna's Mumbai tour
January 09, 2008 11:13 IST

What a better way to get a feel for a city than to walk its streets?

That was what multiple Grammy award winning pop queen Madonna [Images] and hubby director, Guy Ritchie did on Tuesday after arriving on a chartered flight in Mumbai.

After she landed at Mumbai airport, the pop diva roamed the streets of South Mumbai, instead of heading to the hotel where she was staying. She visited Sasoon Dock, Chor Bazaar as well as the shanties of Colaba.

It seemed that she visited all the places that find a mention in Gregory David Roberts' bestseller, Shantaram. Roberts, of course, accompanied her, and her husband.

Dr Ambedkar Nagar Jhopadpatti is the same slum where Roberts spent his initial days when he arrived in Mumbai.

Later, Madonna dined at Salt Water Grill near Girgaum Chowpati, South Mumbai, and also took time out to watch the film shooting of Sanjay Dutt's [Images] forthcoming film EMI. Suniel Shetty [Images], the film's producer, was present on the sets, and chatted with her for a while. Dutt, unfortunately, was not present.
