It was lots and lots of blood that saved Joey Jeetun's life during the Mumbai terrorist attacks on November 26.
The British actor, who ironically played a suicide bomber in a British television documentary 7/7: Attack On London [Images], said he was at the Cafe Leopold, a popular joint near the city's Taj Mahal Hotel [Images], when the terrorists opened fired on the diners.
Thinking that it was some Chinese crackers, Jeetun kept standing until an Indian man shoved him to the floor and told him to remain quiet.
As the bullets found their targets, the place got bloody, which probably saved Jeetun's life. Smeared with other people's blood, the actor laid completely still, fooling the terrorists who mistook him for dead.
'I think that what saved me was the blood of other people on me because the terrorists had aimed at people they thought were alive,' Jeetun told CNN.
The firing only lasted a minute, and then Jeetun said the terrorists rushed out of the cafe. It was only when the police arrived at the scene that it was discovered that he was a survivor.
