Sringaram, a labour of love

It has been almost two years since Sharada Ramanathan's Sringaram -- Dance of love was ready but the film could not reach the theatres because of its off beat nature.

Now that the film has won three National film awards for the year 2005, the filmmaker thought it the right time to release it in the theatres. Sringaram will now release on September 28.

Sringaram is about a Devadasi, a temple dancer of the 19th century. Sharada has some of the best in the business working for her -- Padma Bhushan Lalgudi G Jayaraman has composed the music for Srigaram, cinematography is by Madhu Ambat, art direction by Thotta Tharani, editing by Sreekar Prasad and choreography by Saroj Khan. The trio -- Lalgudi Jayaraman, Madhu Ambat and Saroj Khan have all won national awards.

On the eve of the film's release, Sharada speaks of her labour of love.
