Debutant director Srivas sprang a surprise with this film. Although a regular story, Srivas managed to infuse some interest through a racy screenplay, at least in most parts of the movie. Lakshyam, like most movies, combined action, sentiment and comedy.

The star of the film was Gopichand who gave a brilliant performance. His action and romantic sequences were well enacted, and he is emerging as a good actor post- Okkadunnadu. Another surprise was Jagapathi Babu, who was also impressive as a cop. Anushka, meanwhile played the ladylove to perfection.

This film sustained the interest of the viewer and crossed the 100-day mark.
