Music director and Indian Idol judge Anu Malik chatted with fans last week, discussing the hit reality show among other things. As the final show for Indian Idol 2 approaches (April 22), the contestants are clearly a hot topic of discussion.

preeti asked, Rather than being a stage in which to showcase ones talent, indian idol has become a stage for showcasing the histrionics of all the participants involved. dont u wish more air time was alloted to actual talent and less to the drama behind it ?
Anu Malik answers, I think its a very good reality show where apart from singing you get to know the participants personally and therein lies the beauty

Anu Malik answers, yet to come..

Ganesh asked, dont you think that music plays a big part in a song being liked ? so a participant might loose out if the musicians dont deliver.
Anu Malik answers, I think music is al about team work

Anu Malik answers, Vashu Bhagnani yes.. And Gordhan Tanwani will happen

Anu Malik answers, DOnt know the merits of the case.. the law will take its own course.. but i felt the sentence is a bit too harsh.

amar asked, don't think u praise too much to karunya on other hand sandeep as a just guy knowing nothing. u judges seem to come in the show with pre planned comments.
Anu Malik answers, We dont pre plan the comments..

Anu Malik answers, The singers are not as un-happening as you think they are.. Karunya has been a find and so was Ahbijeet Sawant

syd asked, Why Indian Music lacks originality? Why some song numbers even if they are hit lack the evergreen taste these days. So you may feel like listening to them again and again? Are people not experimenting much before throwing them to the producers?
Anu Malik answers, ten years down the line the music we are churning out today will be compared to music that comes out later on and then people will say why isnt music like it used to be

nasalex asked, anuji i am ur fan. Dont u think rise of Himesh reshammiya is more to do with vaccume left by the absence of cacaphonies like bappi lahiri, as both bappi and himesh's music is soul-less and just chavanni-chaap, as people has forgotton bappi now, will do same with himesh.
