It's always a great pleasure and honour to represent my country for an occasion as special as the Cannes film festival," Ash continues.

"I'm flooded with memories. Two years ago [in 2003], I was on the jury. Before that, Sanjay [Leela Bhansali], Shah Rukh Khan and I were in Cannes for a very special screening of Devdas. Each visit to Cannes has been an occasion for me."

She wore a black cocktail Gucci dress for the opening ceremony. And she chose a white dress with floral prints, designed by Giorgio Amrani, for the second day when she attended the world premiere of Woody Allen's Match Point.
