Tamil cinema has its fair share of hot stars, and rediff.com takes a look. Presenting the current H.O.T breed:

Bharath

He was a dancer, and a very good one at that, when director Shankar's assistants first spotted him at a dance event. The first role that was offered to him was very small; one among the five young men in Boys. Through most of the movie, it was difficult to spot him.

With Jayaraj's bumper hit 4 The People, Bharath became the most talked about actor in the south, though it was his dancing that shone through in the film. The song Lajjavathiye, and the way Bharath jived to the tune became a rage.

Nobody talked much about his acting skills -- not until Chellamey happened.

That film made people take another look at the actor. As an obsessive teenage lover, Bharath was magnificent. Chellamaey was followed by the biggest hit of 2005 so far -- Kadal, from Shankar's production house.

In contrast to the educated, urbane young man that he played in all his earlier films, in Kadal, he played an uneducated motorcycle mechanic.

With the film's success, 21 year old Bharath is said to be the most promising and saleable young hero in Tamil.
