Rahul Bose's wet birthday!

Subhash K Jha | July 28, 2005 16:17 IST

Rahul BoseRahul Bose turned 38 on Wednesday, July 27.

"And boy what a birthday it was! The gods simply poured down their blessings! It was the most intense downpour I've seen in my life," the Jhankaar Beats actor says, referring to the torrential rainfall Mumbai witnessed the last two days.

On the night before his birthday, Rahul had a small dinner party at his sister's place. "One of my friends who got caught in a traffic jam had no choice but to get out of  the cab and walk for three hours to reach my place. This is definitely the most incredible monsoon deluge we've had in Mumbai. People stranded in offices the whole night, children unable to return home after school..."

Terrible Tuesday: Mumbai copes with a calamity

For Rahul, this monsoon madness in Mumbai is an instant-replay of what he witnessed in the Andaman and Nicobar islands after the tsunami last year.

Meanwhile, audiences watched his new film, Buddhadeb Dasgupta's Kalpurush, at the recently concluded Osian Film   Festival in Delhi. And many felt Bose's performance in the film was his best ever.

"I wouldn't know about that," he says. "They were surprised that I could get the nuances from the Bengali middle class. Even I'm surprised! I guess the praise at the festival would qualify as a decent birthday gift."
