The six black and white paintings sport just a hint of colour. The red cricket ball or the blue outfit of the Indian cricket team are in his characteristic style -- sans faces. The imagery is from the film, the interpretation is classic Husain.

The symbols of cricket -- ball, bat and stumps -- are very much the leitmotifs. The characters -- the hero, mother and sister -- are rooted in their environment, the bucolic landscape. The tender and heartwarming tale of Iqbal comes alive in these paintings.
