While much of Mumbai was submerged on July 26, guess what Mahesh Bhatt was doing?

Giving sermons on television about civic issues, government failure, blah, blah, blah...

Next, he filed a Public Interest Litigation in court against the government for its failure to prevent disaster in the city.

Call Bhatt anytime, on any issue, and he will have an opinion -- be it cinema, world politics... anything.

You will never hear a 'No Comment' from this Bhatt.

This columnist would like to know why he didn't actually help people who were caught in the floods instead of sermonising?

Of course, had he helped people quietly, he would not have got that all-important publicity.

Another Sholay?

Why can't the film fraternity leave Sholay alone?

After Ram Gopal Varma announced his Sholay remake, another director stood up to claim his new film is like the Ramesh Sippy classic.

According to Vivek Agnihotri, the director of Chocolate, "Never in the history of Indian cinema have we had such a wonderful star cast like in Chocolate."

Who is he referring to? Anil Kapoor, smooch king Emraan Hashmi, has-been Suniel Shetty and newcomers Sushma Reddy and Tanushree Dutta.

So, who's playing Gabbar Singh?

In deglam mode

Recently, we met Neha Dhupia at the music launch of her new film, Siskiyan.

Thought the actress was looking glamorous at the party, she sports a deglamourised look in the film. After all, she plays a Muslim riot victim.

In the movie promos, she is shown beating up her co-star Sonu Sood, whom she smooched generously in an earlier film, Sheesha. The film bombed at the box office.

Asked why she had opted for an unglamorous role, she says, "I want to be known as an actor now."

Wonder what she was doing in her earlier films!
