First Look: Nagesh Kukunoor's Iqbal
rediff Entertainment Bureau
August 09, 2005 16:09 IST

Nagesh Kukunoor is back with a rather unusual sounding film, Iqbal: The Rampur Express.

Produced by Subhash Ghai [Images], it is about Iqbal (Shreyas Talpade [Images]), a young village boy who dreams of making it to the national cricket team.

To achieve his dreams, Iqbal has to go through many difficulties. And help comes in the form of the village drunk, played by Naseeruddin Shah [Images] (left).

Of course, since the film is based on cricket, it seems only apt for a cricketer to make an appearance. So, after Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Kapid Dev is back on screen.

Will Iqbal succeed where Raveena Tandon's [Images] Stumped -- also based on cricket -- failed? Will it capitalise on India's cricket fever?

Find out on August 26.
