Connery's moon buggy!

rediff Entertainment Bureau | November 19, 2004 14:45 IST

Sean ConneryWhile the world speculates about the next James Bond -- in terms of a instant, current update -- Pierce Brosnan recommended Colin Farrell, but Roger Moore called him too short.

Farrell himself said thanks, but no, even as Angelina Jolie expresses fervent interest to play a bad, bad Bond girl.

Meanwhile, Sir Sean Connery has bought the moon buggy he rode in the 1971 classic, Diamonds Are Forever. Fans of the genre will worshippingly remember the spare vehicle Bond used to jet himself a hasty getaway, which was owned by 007 Magazine editor Graham Rye. The tremendous Bond-fetishist planned to auction the craft on December 14 at London auction house Christie's for an estimated $56,000.

However, wily veteran Sir Sean charmed Rye into selling it privately for $54,000. IMDb.com reported an insider as saying: "He even shocked us. We never thought a Bond star would buy it!"

Considering a return, oh glorious Scotsman?
