Hindi film actor-turned-politician Govinda is clear he will not abandon his acting career despite joining active politics.

"I shall continue with my film career with full enthusiasm," Govinda told reporters on Friday evening after offering prayers at the dargah of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti in Ajmer, Rajasthan. "My next film Sukh will release soon."

Under the banner of Govinda Entertainment No 1, Sukh has been directed by brother Kirti Kumar and co-stars Chunky Pandey, Aarti Chhabria and Preeti Jhangiani.

"I agreed to contest the Lok Sabha elections to serve the people and not to fulfil any other ambition," said the newly elected Member of Parliament.

On his joining the Congress, he said, "I joined Congress because my thinking coincides with the philosophy of the party."
