'It was fun working with Mehmood' Lata Khubchandani | July 27, 2004 01:18 IST Mehmood and Shubha Khote made a hit couple in numerous films. Khote pays tribute to the legendary comedian who died on July 23. I first met him on the sets of Seema. There was a dance which his father Mumtaz Ali was choreographing. He had come along. The first film we worked in together was Chhoti Bahen (1959), which became such a huge hit that we became a team. We did so many films together that I could not keep count. We were always a pair in every film. We would also have Dhumal playing either my father or his. We became a threesome. We had a great sense of comic timing. It was fun working together. I enjoyed Chhoti Bahen. Ziddi was another favourite of mine, in which we had lovely roles. Mehmood and I were very friendly and talkative. We struck up a fantastic rapport. No one had to tell us; we knew what would come from the other person. He was always joking and making everybody laugh. He was also very observant and would copy people's styles. We were together for a long time. Mehmood loved food. He also loved dogs and was very fond of children. He had a lot of cars and horses. Also Read! Click here for More Features
