The honour was conferred on the veteran actor in recognition of Puri's 'outstanding services to the film industry', a release from the British high commission in New Delhi said. The investiture ceremony is likely to be held in Mumbai. The actor's journalist wife Nandita Puri broke this news in her column in Mid-Day. Puri wrote, 'Om is quite a household name in England.' She also added that he is 'perhaps the first Indian actor to be nominated in the Best Actor category for BAFTA [the British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards]'.
