Saif rides Sharmila's train!

Vidhu Vinod Chopra's upcoming Parineeta - The Married Woman has just completed its first major shooting spell, a 50-day schedule, in various locations spanning Darjeeling and Kolkata.

The first schedule in Darjeeling started rolling on October 29, and tossed Saif Ali Khan onto the famed toy train -- the very train his mother Sharmila Tagore made unforgettable in Aradhana's Mere sapno ki rani.

The experience triggered off many a sepia-toned special memory for the Chhote Nawab, and hysteria among the local residents, who thronged the shoot just to glimpse the actor, in all his blue-blooded glory.

Parineeta is an adaptation of a Sarat Chandra Chatterjee classic, and a hallmark in Bengali literature. The story is an intense romance, traversing through the differences between the male and female perception of the very concepts of love and commitment.

The film is a Vidhu Vinod Chopra production and directed by veteran ad filmmaker Pradeep Sarkar. It stars Saif, Sanjay Dutt, Raima Sen, and introduces Vidya Balan. The music is scored by Shantanu Moitra.

The film is almost complete, and the production unit will add the finishing touches in Mumbai.

Parineeta is scheduled for an April release.
