Janet thinks Bush used Nipplegate!

rediff.com Entertainment Bureau | August 25, 2004 17:04 IST

Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake at the Super BowlJanet Jackson regrets her apology for the notorious Nipplegate incident.

The singer believes US President George W Bush used the highly publicised incident to divert attention from the war in Iraq, according to ananova.com

She was quoted as saying, "I truly feel in my heart that the president wanted to take the focus off him at that time, and I was the perfect vehicle to do so at that moment. When you see Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11, it just confirms it. I shouldn't have apologised. You don't apologise for an accident. It just makes you look guilty."

The incident occured when she exposed a breast during a performance with Justin Timberlake at the SuperBowl in Houston, in February. Following nationwide outrage, Jackson offered an apology within a few days for the 'wardrobe malfunction'.

Jackson went on to say that while she would vote in the presidential election in November, she would not vote for Bush.
