What is Aamir's next goal?

Ashutosh Gowariker's Lagaan brought Aamir Khan international recognition and an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Film. With his next film The Rising, directed by Ketan Mehta (Mirch Masala, Maya), Khan hopes to notch up an exclusive screening at next year's Cannes International Film Festival.

Aamir Khan The buzz is the period drama will feature the likes of Hollywood's Toby Stephens (Die Another Day)  and Damian Lewis. Reports also suggest the rights of the film have already been brought by Twentieth Century Fox.

Produced by Bobby Bedi (Bandit Queen, Saathiya), The Rising also stars Rani Mukerji and Aishwarya Rai.

The Rising sees Khan as freedom fighter Mangal Pandey and is scheduled to go on the floors in September.

Amrita likes it cold!

Whether it was Raveena Tandon prancing to Shaher ki ladki (Rakshak) or Aishwarya Rai's sexy turn in Ishq kamina (Shakti - The Power) or Yana Gupta swaying to Babujee dheere (Dum), item songs continue to be hot and happening.

Now it is Amrita Arora's turn to gain some mileage out of the ongoing trend. The star of  Subhash Ghai's Ek Aur Ek Gyarah appears in an item song in N R Pachisia's Zameen

The song Dilli ki sardi composed by Himesh Reshammiya (Kahin Pyaar Na Ho Jaaye, Humraaz) was shot in Mumbai's suburban Kamalistan Studios in a lavish set designed by R Verman. Zameen also marks the directorial debut of veteran fight master Shetty's son Rohit, and stars Ajay Devgan, Abhishek Bachchan and Bipasha Basu.  

Sunny in desi Crocodile Dundee

Filmmaker Rahul Rawail is responsible for launching many new faces like Sunny Deol and Amrita Singh (Betaab), Kajol (Bekhudi) and Aishwarya Rai (Aur…Pyar Ho Gaya) in his films.

Sunny DeolIn his forthcoming venture Jo Bole So Nihaal, Rawail introduces Christian Dior model Vijayta Sandhu opposite Sunny Deol. Produced by Babloo Pachisia, Jo Bole So Nihaal is apparently inspired by Peter Fairman's Crocodile Dundee (Paul Hogan, Linda Kozlowski).

Interestingly, Jyotin Goel's Safari, starring Sanjay Dutt and Juhi Chawla, was based on the same theme.
