Karishma serial stayed again

The Kolkata High Court division bench on June 3 stayed the order passed by Justice M H S Ansari, which gave Sahara Entertainment the go-ahead to resume the telecast of their mega-serial, Karishma -- The Miracles Of Destiny from July 7.

Karisma KapoorThe first episode of the Rs 60 crore (Rs 600 million) serial was aired May 12, after which it was discontinued following a Supreme Court stay order. American author Barbara Taylor Bradford had filed a case against the serial's makers, alleging it was a plagiarised version of her book, A Woman Of Substance.

Karishma marks Karisma Kapoor's debut on television. The serial, which is being directed by Akashdeep (former actress Sheeba's husband), also stars Sanjay Kapoor, Arbaaz Khan, Arshad Warsi and Jugal Hansraj.

The bench has now decided to watch the serial, in camera, upto the episode that was last canned. It also wants to read Bradford's novel and has directed her counsel to submit a copy of the book.
