Vidhu to debut in Hollywood with Move 5

July 02, 2003 16:08 IST

Vidhu Vinod Chopra will direct his first Hollywood film, Move 5, this winter.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra

His firm Vinod Chopra Productions has joined hands with Bobby Newmyer and Jeff Silver of Outlaw Productions, which had earlier produced Training Day, the film that won Denzel Washington a Best Actor Oscar.

Chopra is now in India after a two-month stay in Los Angeles to finalise the script for the movie. He said in a statement, 'I am really excited and honoured to have tied up with Outlaw Productions for Move 5. The film is now in the casting stage. It [casting] will be finalised after I return to the US in two weeks.'

Move 5 has been written by playwright Abhijat Joshi, writer-journalist Suketu Mehta and Chopra. The trio had earlier collaborated on Chopra's last release, Mission Kashmir (Sanjay Dutt, Hrithik Roshan, Preity Zinta).

Chopra's earlier films include 1942 -- A Love Story (Anil Kapoor, Manisha Koirala, Jackie Shroff) and Parinda (Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar). He also directed the box office dud, Kareeb (Bobby Deol, Neha). Chopra began his career with Sazaa-e-Maut (Naseeruddin Shah) and followed it up with Khamosh (Shah, Amol Palekar).

David Lonner and Steve Rabineau of Endeavor and Michael Adler and Carlos Goodman from the law firm Lichter, Grossman, Nicholas, Adler and Goodman Inc will represent Vinod Chopra Productions in the US.
