In the fourth part of our series on Best Actors, we profile Saif Ali Khan. Earlier, readers voted for Hrithik Roshan, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan as 2003's Best Actors.

Saif Ali Khan made his debut back in 1993. All he had to his credit were some stray hits (Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Kachche Dhaage). They did a miserable job in trying to establish him as an actor of repute.

So when Farhan Akhtar’s Dil Chahta Hai came along in 2001, it totally breathed life into Saif's career.

The reason why the film is an important landmark in his career is because, for the first time, audiences got a chance to see, first-hand, the actor's superb comic timing. In a role he was simply born into, Saif dominated the film.
