Siddharth (Munna, in Boys)

Shankar's Boys is about five boys and a girl. But the 'hero' Munna (played by 24-year-old Siddharth) is, "a poet, a romantic and an optimist. The extent to which Munna is smitten by Harini [Genelia D'Souza] is the driving force behind Boys," says Siddharth.

Siddharth wanted to be in films 'ever since he was a kid', though as a writer and director. Armed with an MBA, he moved to Chennai, where he assisted Mani Ratnam in Kannathil Muthamittaal.

Writer Sujatha and his wife spotted Siddharth and recommended him to director Shankar. "Once I met Shankar, everything happened fast. I auditioned and was signed the next day. Working with Shankar was fun," says Siddharth.

He still cannot get over his brush with death while shooting a motorcycle chase on Mount Road in Chennai: "It opened my eyes to safety violations in Indian cinema. I reckon I will be paranoid when I direct dangerous stunts."
