Rani Mukerji loves to experiment.

It shows in the way her look changes with almost every film.

In her debut, Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat, she was simple, almost homely. Her next, Ghulam, saw her in a hip, trendy avatar. Immediately after, she played the sacrificial, timid, sari-clad housewife in Mehndi.

Meanwhile, Ghulam clicked.

Rani then moved on to a cutesy look in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega and Mujhse Dosti Karoge. And became stuck with the nice-girl-next-door image.

Saathiya, which did very well at the box office, reinforced that image.

That is probably why Chalte Chalte was a welcome change. Rani, clothed in chic designer wear, looked glamorous and sexy.
